General camera troubleshooting
Problem
Most camera errors occur because of an unstable or weak USB connection.
Solution
The things to check, in order of likelihood:
- Make sure you are using two 3m USB cables (T001417) connected together with a repeater (T001337), instead of a single 5 m USB cable, which is too long.
- The USB3 cable is not tightened enough on the camera end, please make sure that it is screwed tightly.
- USB cable may be slightly damaged. Try a different USB cable.
- You might be using a USB2 port on the laptop. Please make sure to plug the USB cable in a USB3 port. In the case of a Getac laptop, this will be on the back side of the laptop next to the charger port. In case of the new Dell laptops, any port is a USB3 but you can try to alternate between them.
If you are unable to solve the problem, have a look into power. Basically those things are to consider:
- Preferably power the camera through the AC-DC adapter, not through the car accessory plug, since the power from the accessory plug can fluctuate a lot.
- Connect the camera power after the engine is started to avoid power spikes to damage the camera board.
- Try a different trigger cable (LM0167-00-00).
- Try using a 24V - 2.5A power supply, such as:
- ACC-01-9001 - 24V 2.5A (60W) power supply from Flir.
- 3A-621DN24 - same model sold as ACC-01-9001 by Flir.
- 5.5mm x 2.5mm AC 100240V to DC 24V 3A Switching Power Supply Adapter.
