Exception when trying to open a project in TBC

Problem

When opening a project, Trimble Business Center gives an exception with the message:

The project [project path] cannot be opened because it contains unregistered snap-in component types.

Solution

This might happen if you try to open a TBC project with a different version of TBC than the version where the project was initially created. The solution is to use the version of Trimble Business Center which was used to create the project where possible.

To open a TBC project that was created in a later of TBC than the version you are running:

  1. Open the older version of TBC that you have and start a new project.

  2. In File Explorer, navigate to the file path of the TBC project file that was created using the later version of TBC.

  3. Select the VCE project file from the later version of TBC, then press Ctrl + SHIFT and drag the file and drop it into the new project you have just created.

You should now be able to open the VCE project file from the later version of TBC in the older version of TBC.
