Lost connection to TMI software
Problem
Connection to Trimble Mobile Imaging software is lost. WiFi connection to the MX7 or TMI software is interrupted or intermittent. Only the WiFi connection is lost, the system does not restart.
Solution
Likely caused by interference with other open WiFi access points (hotspots) in the area. This can occur especially in urban areas where there are many open WiFi hotspots. You can reduce this negative effect by minimizing the distance between the MX7 WiFi dongle and the tablet, and by avoiding any obstructions that may weaken the signal strength.
Problem Details
Trimble recommends installing the car box with WiFi close to the operator with the tablet computer, for example on the back seat or even on the dashboard if possible. Installing it in the trunk or rear of the car is not recommended. An intermittent WiFi signal does not affect the data in any way – the mission recording does not stop. As soon as the user can reconnect again to the system and gain back control of the TMI software, the user can continue.
However, to be really sure what is causing the instability of the WiFi connection, one should drive in an area with no other ambient WiFi signals and see if the connection is stable.
