To create a GNSS contact for a base Internet data link

  1. Tap and select Settings / Connections / GNSS contacts.
  2. Tap New.
  3. Enter the contact Name.
  4. Set the Contact type to Internet base.
  5. Set the Route through controller setting. If you will.
    • Disconnect the controller running Trimble Access from the base receiver once the base survey has started, set the Route through controller switch to No.
    • Leave the controller running Trimble Access connected to the base receiver while the base receiver is running, set the Route through controller switch to Yes.

The modem in the Trimble R10-2/R12 receiver does not support Bluetooth Dial-up Networking (DUN), and so you cannot use the SIM card in the receiver and enable Route through controller. To route data through the controller, insert the SIM card in the controller and set the Route through controller field to On.

  6. If the Route through controller switch is set to No:

    1. If required enter the Modem PIN.
    2. Specify the Access Point Name (APN) for the Internet service provider. This is the service provider that provided the SIM card in the receiver.

To use the Select Access Point Name (APN) wizard, tap and select your country in the Location field, and then select your Provider and plan. Tap Accept. The APN field is updated.

    3. Enter the Cellular username and Cellular password. By default these fields are both set to guest.
    4. The Base operation mode field is read-only and set to Upload data to remote server. Configure the rest of the fields in the screen as required. See When the base will upload data to a broadcast server.
  7. If the Route through controller switch is set to Yes:
    1. Select the Network connection for the controller to use to connect to the Internet.

You can enter the name of the connection or tap to view the Network connection screen. Select the connection from the list.

If you are using the cellular modem in the controller,or a smartphone connected to the controller, to connect to a 3G or 4G mobile broadband network, select Operating system – Wi‑Fi, Cellular in the Network connection screen. See Internet connection setup.

    2. If required enter the Modem PIN.
    3. Select the Base operation mode.

If the receiver at the base will operate as the base server, select Operate as a server and enter the IP Port.

If the receiver at the base will upload data to a broadcast server, select Upload data to remote server. Configure the rest of the fields in the screen as required. See When the base will upload data to a broadcast server.
