To configure a rover dial‑in data link

  1. Tap and select Settings / Survey styles. Select the required survey style. Tap Edit.
  2. Select Rover data link.
  3. Set the Type field to Dial‑in.

  4. In the GNSS contact field:

    • If you have already configured the GNSS contact to use for the dial-in data link, enter the GNSS contact name for the contact, or tap to select the GNSS contact from the GNSS Contacts list. The list is filtered according to the contact type.

    • To create a new GNSS contact, tap to open the GNSS Contacts screen and then tap New.

  5. To display the GNSS contact that is configured in the survey style, or to be able to change the GNSS contact when you start the survey, select the Prompt for GNSS contact check box.

  6. The remaining steps depend on the modem you are using to dial the modem at the base.

  1. Set the Route through controller switch to No.
  2. In the Receiver port field, select Receiver internal modem.
  3. Tap Accept.
  1. Set the Route through controller switch to Yes.

  2. In the Controller port field, select Controller internal modem.

    If Controller internal modem is not available from the Controller port drop-down list, then the controller does not have an internal modem. You will need to use the modem in the receiver or in another device, such as a mobile phone.

  3. Tap Accept.

When using the modem inside another device, you can choose to route the incoming data through the controller.

  • If you choose to route through the controller, the controller can use the Internet connection for other functions, including downloading projects and jobs or email during the RTK survey. You will need to connect the external modem to the controller.

  • If you choose not to route through the controller, then the controller cannot use the Internet connection. Only the receiver will be able to use the Internet connection. You will need to connect the external modem to the receiver.

If incoming base data will be routed through the controller:

  1. Set the Route through controller switch to Yes.
  2. In the Controller port field, select the appropriate Bluetooth or serial port, depending on the method you use to connect the device to the controller.
  3. If required, edit the Baud rate and Parity settings.
  4. Tap Accept.

If incoming base data will not be routed through the controller:

  1. Set the Route through controller switch to No.
  2. In the Receiver port field, select the port on the receiver you will use to connect the device to the receiver.
  3. If required, edit the Baud rate and Parity settings.
  4. Tap Accept.

 

  • When using the modem in another device, you must use a serial cable to connect the receiver to the other device. Because most receivers have only one serial port, the connection from the receiver to the controller must be a Bluetooth connection. You cannot use Bluetooth to connect the receiver to the other device because the Trimble Access will not know the connection exists. If you are using a receiver with more than one serial port, such as the R8 receiver, the connection between the controller and the receiver can also be a serial cable.

  • Modems used with Trimble Access must support Hayes compatible AT commands.
