Supported map files
Map files are files that contain points, lines, arcs, polylines, and other map items such as alignments and surfaces that are not in the current job but that you want to be able to view and select in the map.
Supported map file types are:
- BIM models:
- AutoCAD Drawing files (.dwg)
- IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) files (.ifc, .ifczip)
- Navisworks Drawing files (.dwg)
- TrimBIM (Trimble BIM) files (.trb)
DWG and NWD files are not supported when stored directly to an Android device. When using Trimble Accesson a controller running Android, upload DWG and NWD files to a Trimble Connect project using Trimble Connect for Windows. The files are automatically converted to TrimBIM files in the cloud. When you download the project to the controller, select the Settings tab and select the Download as TrimBIM check box. For more information, see Synchronizing data with the cloud.
- AutoCAD Drawing Exchange Format (DXF) files (.dxf)
- ESRI Shapefiles (.shp)
- RXL files (.rxl)
- LandXML files (.xml)
- 12d Model files (.12da)
- Digital terrain models (.dtm .ttm .xml, .dxf, .12da)
- Scan points and point clouds (.tsf and .rwcx)
- Road files:
- RXL roads (.rxl)
- LandXML files (.xml)
- 12d Model files (.12da) – typically used in Roads
- GENIO roads (.inp, .crd, .mos)
- TXL tunnels (.txl)
- Surpac files (.str) – typically used in Mines
To link map files to the job, see Managing map file layers.
You can also add background imagery and data to the map using georeferenced image files, Trimble Maps, or a web map provider. See Map backgrounds.
