To measure a topo point

The Topo point method is the most frequently used measurement method. You can measure a topo point in any type of GNSS survey except a FastStatic survey.

  1. Tap and select Measure / Measure points, or in the map, with nothing selected, tap Measure.
  2. In the Method field, select Topo point.
  3. Enter the Point name and Code. See To select feature codes.

If the selected code has attributes, the Attrib softkey appears. Tap Attrib and fill out the attribute fields. See To enter attribute values when measuring a point. Tap Store.

  4. Enter a value in the Antenna height field and make sure that the setting in the Measured to field is set appropriately.
  5. Position the receiver and tap Measure.

If you are using IMU tilt compensation and the IMU is aligned, you can tilt the pole as required. The status bar shows . Keep the pole tip is stationary during measurement.

If you are not using IMU tilt compensation or the IMU is not aligned, level the pole.

If you are using a receiver that supports the GNSS eBubble, use the eBubble to level the pole. The status bar shows . Keep the pole vertical and stationary during measurement.

To measure points more quickly, enable Auto-measure to automatically initiate a measurement. See Auto-measure.

  6. When the preset occupation time and precisions have been reached, the point is automatically stored when Auto store point is enabled. If Auto store point is not enabled, tap Store. See Auto-store point.

  • To search for the next available point name, tap Find. Enter the point name you want to start searching from (for example, 2000) and tap Enter. The software searches for the next available point name after 2000 and inserts it in the Point name field.

  • To add a vertical offset to the measured point, tap Options. Select the Add vertical offset check box and then in the Measure points screen enter a value in the Vertical offset field.
  • To configure quality, precision, and other settings, tap Options. See GNSS point options.
  • To accept the measurement before the occupation time or precision requirements have been satisfied, tap the blank softkey in the bottom right corner.
