GNSS eBubble tilt warnings

Tilt warnings apply only when the GNSS eBubble tilt sensor is being used. Specifically, when you are using a

  • Trimble R10 or R12 receiver and Tilt functions are enabled in the survey style.
  • Trimble receiver that supports IMU tilt compensation where eBubble functions are enabled in the survey style and the receiver is operating in GNSS-only mode.

You can configure the software to warn if, during point measurement, the receiver tilts more than the required tilt tolerance.

When tilt warnings are enabled a measurement can only be stored when the eBubble is green and within the tolerance circle.

To configure required tilt tolerance and tilt warnings

  1. Enter the tilt threshold value In the Tilt tolerance field in the point method screen of the survey style. You can enter a different value for each point method.

If the Tilt warnings check box is not selected, the GNSS eBubble indicates when the receiver is outside the specified tolerance but no warnings are displayed.

  2. Select the Tilt warnings check box to display warnings when the antenna tilts more than the value entered in the Tilt tolerance field.

    If tilt warnings are configured:

    • If the GNSS eBubble is red indicating the receiver is outside the tilt tolerance when you start to measure a topo or observed control point, a warning message appears. Tap Yes to continue measuring the position.
    • An Excess tilt detected while measuring message appears if you have had excess tilt at any time during the measurement process.
    • An Excess tilt message appears if you have had excess tilt at the time of storage.
  3. Use the Auto-abandon and Auto-measure check boxes to control what happens if excess tilt or excess movement is detected when measuring a topo point or observed control point:

    • Select the Auto abandon check box to automatically abandon the point if excess tilt or excess movement is detected. If the Auto abandon check box is not selected and excess tilt or excess movement is detected, you must choose whether to accept the point, abandon it, or remeasure it.
    • Select the Auto‑measure check box to automatically start measuring a topo point when the precisions and tilt are within tolerance, and no excess movement is detected.

    • Select both the Auto abandon and Auto‑measure check boxes to automate the re-measure of points that do not meet your requirements. If excess tilt or excess movement is detected when both check boxes are selected, the point is automatically abandoned and the software shows Waiting for level, indicating the measurement will start as soon as the receiver is level and stationary.
