To key in points

  1. To open the Key in point screen, do one of the following:
    • Tap and select Key in / Points.
    • In the map, tap and hold the location for the point and then select Key in point.

  2. Enter the Point name and, if required, the Code.
  3. Enter the coordinate values. To configure the Coordinate view settings, tap Options. See Coordinate view settings.

  4. If you key in a Station and offset value, select from the Type field the item the station and offset values are relative to.
  5. If you key in a Grid (local) value, select or create the transformation to apply. To define the transformation later, select None.
  6. To set the search class for the point to Control, select the Control point check box. Leave the check box unselected to set the search class to Normal.

You can change the search class after the point has been stored using the Point manager.

  7. Tap Store.

When keying in points from the map:

  • If you are keying in multiple points, for each point you can tap in the Northing or Easting field in the Key in point form and then tap in the map to define the coordinates for the point. The Coordinate view option must be set to Grid or Grid (local). Grid (local) is available only when the Advanced geodetic option is enabled.
  • If the map is in Plan view (2D), the Elevation field is set to null (?), and a value is optional. If the map is in one of the 3D views, the value in the Elevation field is calculated with reference to the ground plane, surface or BIM model. You can edit this value if required.
  • The Key in point option is not available from the tap and hold menu if you are viewing the map in 3D and the map does not include a ground plane or surface.
  • If the Coordinate view option is set to Station and offset and the Type is set to Road, then if the road format is:

    • RXL or GENIO and the point is on the road, a V.Dist value is applied relative to the elevation at the entered station and offset. If the point is off the road you can enter an elevation.

    • LandXML and the point is either on or off the road you can enter an elevation.

  • If the Coordinate view option is set to Station and offset and the Type is set to Tunnel, then if the tunnel has templates assigned the V.Dist value is always applied relative to the elevation of the vertical alignment at the entered station.
