System requirements

To use Penmap you will need an Android device that meets the minimum hardware recommendations and a supported receiver. If you are using the Trimble Catalyst DA1 antenna you will need to install additional software to your Android device to use the Trimble Catalyst service.

Operating system: Android 7 or later (minimum 5.0)

CPU: Octa-core 64 bit CPU with 6x or more Arm cores recommended (minimum 4x Arm® cores)

GPU: Minimum OpenGL 3.0 or later

Memory: 3GB RAM or more (minimum 2GB)

For best performance, hardware should always have the latest available firmware installed. For more information on recent software and firmware versions, refer to the Trimble Geospatial Software and Firmware Latest Releases document.

GNSS receivers

  • Trimble integrated GNSS systems: R12i, R12, R10, R8s, R8, R6, R4, R2, R1, R580
  • Trimble Catalyst™ GNSS positioning service:
    • Trimble Catalyst DA2 GNSS receiver
    • Trimble Catalyst DA1 digital antenna
  • Trimble GPS Pathfinder receivers: LA-ProXRT
  • Spectra Geospatial receivers: SP60 and SP85

Integrated GNSS handhelds

  • Trimble TDC150 GNSS handheld
  • Trimble TDC650 GNSS handheld
  • Spectra® Geospatial SP20 handheld
  • Spectra Geospatial SP30 handheld
  • Trimble Nomad 5 handheld data collector with the EMPOWER EM100 GNSS module

The software also works with the internal Android receiver in your Android device, but for best results, use one of the GNSS sources listed above.

If you are using the Trimble Catalyst DA2 GNSS antenna with a Catalyst fixed term subscription, Penmap will pick the best available subscription via Trimble Correction Hub and use that. No additional software is required.

Trimble Mobile Manager for managing On Demand subscriptions

If you are consuming 1-hour blocks from a Catalyst On Demand account, you must install the Trimble Mobile Manager app to your Android device and use Trimble Mobile Manager to start the On Demand session. The Trimble Mobile Manager app is available as a free download on Google Play. For more information, refer to the Trimble Mobile Manager Help.

Trimble Catalyst Service for the DA1 digital antenna
