Connect to the GNSS receiver
To connect to a GNSS receiver for the first time, use the steps for your receiver below.
If you are using Trimble Mobile Manager with Esri ArcGIS Field Maps, connect your device to the receiver using the ArcGIS Field Maps app.
-
Press the power button on the receiver until the LED starts blinking.
-
To pair with the receiver, in Trimble Mobile Manager, go to the Home screen and tap Select. In the Select device window select your receiver if shown in the list, or tap Scan for devices to search for a device not previously paired.
-
The device scans for nearby devices. Receivers are listed by model name and serial number. If you are not sure which receiver is yours, check the serial number label on the underside of the receiver.
-
If the receiver is not listed, tap the Refresh icon to rescan. If there are a number of Bluetooth devices in the vicinity you may need to refresh the list a couple of times.
It can take some time before your receiver becomes visible to your mobile device.
-
Select the receiver to connect to.
If you are prompted to enter a PIN when connecting to a Trimble R series receiver, the default PIN is 0000. Note however that this may have been changed for your receiver in the web interface used to configure the receiver settings.
If you have connected to the receiver using the iOS Bluetooth settings screen but it is not listed in Trimble Mobile Manager, return to the iOS Bluetooth settings screen and turn off Bluetooth and then turn on Bluetooth. Return to Trimble Mobile Manager and tap the List Connected Devices button again.
-
If you are using a DA2 receiver and you are not already signed in to Trimble Mobile Manager, a pop-up message asks you to sign in. Tap Sign in. For more information, see Signing in.
-
Once connected, the Trimble Mobile Manager Home screen shows the name and serial number of the connected receiver.
Resetting the receiver will force the receiver to forget any previously connected Bluetooth devices. Press and hold the power button on the receiver until the LED turns off. The receiver will reset itself and turn off. Press the power button again to restart it.
If this happens you may need to ‘forget’ the receiver in your device’s Bluetooth settings screen before starting the Bluetooth pairing process again.
-
Connect the DA1 antenna to the device using the USB cable provided with the antenna.
- In Trimble Mobile Manager, go to the Home screen and tap Select.
-
In the Select device window, select your Trimble Catalyst DA1.
- If the Trimble Catalyst service is not installed or is out of date, you are prompted to go to the Google Play store to update it. See Install the Trimble Catalyst Service.
-
If you are not already signed in to Trimble Mobile Manager, a pop-up message asks you to sign in. Tap Sign in. For more information, see Signing in.
-
The Trimble Catalyst Service pop-up appears. Tap OK to grant access and proceed.
Android requires you to allow the connection each time you reconnect to a USB accessory or device.
After a few minutes, the Trimble Mobile Manager Home screen updates to show the GNSS status and the position being generated by the receiver.
The Home screen also shows information about the current Catalyst subscription you are using. For more information, see Licenses screen.
If you are running Trimble Mobile Manager on a Trimble device that has an integrated Trimble GNSS receiver or a Trimble Empower EM100 module, select the device in the Select device window field, and tap Connect.
