Coordinate view settings
You can change the Coordinate view settings when viewing a point in the Review job screen or the Point manager or when keying in a point.

HA HD VD | View as horizontal angle, horizontal distance, and vertical distance. |
Delta Grid | View as differences in northing, easting, and elevation from the instrument point. |
USNG/MGRS | View as USNG/MGRS string (based on the local ellipsoid) and elevation. |
- The Global reference datum and the Global reference epoch are shown in the Select coordinate system screen of the job properties. See Coordinate system.
- When keying in a point, and for all options except Grid or Grid (local), the computed grid coordinates are also displayed. To select Grid (local), the Advanced Geodetic option must be enabled in the Cogo settings screen.
If the coordinate value when viewing a point is ?, one of the following situations may have occurred:
- The point may be stored as a GNSS point but with the Coordinate view field set to Local or Grid and a datum transformation and projection not defined. To correct this, change the Coordinate view setting to Global, define a datum transformation and/or projection, or calibrate the job.
- The point may be stored as a Grid (local) point and with the Coordinate view field set to Grid, but a transformation has not been defined to convert the Grid (local) to a Grid.
- The point may be stored as a polar vector from a point which has been deleted. To correct this, restore the point.
- In a 2D survey, a projection may have been defined with the project height as null. To correct this, set the Project height to approximate the site elevation.
To select Grid (local), the Advanced Geodetic option must be enabled in the Cogo settings screen.
- In Point manager or Review job, tap Display and then select Grid (local).
- To select the Grid (local) transformation for coordinate display, or to create a transformation, select Options.
-
Do one of the following:
- To view the original Grid (local) values, select Display original grid local and then tap Accept.
- To create a new display transformation, select Create new transformation. Tap Next and complete the required steps. See Transformations.
-
To select an existing display transformation, select Select transformation. Select the display transformation from the list. Tap Accept.
- The 'input' transformation transforms a point from the original entered Grid (local) coordinates to database grid coordinates.
- The 'display' transformation transforms a point, regardless of how it was stored, from the database grid coordinates to display computed Grid (local) coordinates.
- When viewing the original Grid (local), points not stored as Grid (local) appear as null North (local), East (local), and Elev (local).
- When you select a display transformation, all database grid points appear using the current display transformation. If the display transformation is different from the original transformation, the computed Grid (local) coordinates are different from the original entered Grid (local) coordinates. To see the original Grid (local) coordinates, set the Coordinate view to As Stored. Transformation (as stored) is displayed when reviewing Grid (local) and the Coordinate view is set to As Stored. Transformation (display) is displayed when reviewing Grid (local) and the Coordinate view is set to Grid (local).
- A point entered as a Grid (local) point is stored in its original format to the job as a Grid (local) point. Typically, the input transformation to transform the point to a database grid point is assigned at the time the point is entered, but the transformation can be created later and then assigned to the point(s) using Point manager.
To view points by station and offset relative to an item such as a line, arc, polyline, alignment,
- Tap and select Job data / Point manager.
- Tap Display and then select Station and offset.
- Tap Options.
- Select the item Type and the item name. If you select Road in the Type field, then you must select the Road format before you select the Road name.
- Tap Accept.
If the Coordinate view is set to Station and offset relative to a road
- the horizontal alignment includes consecutive elements that are non tangential;
- the point is beyond the end tangent point of the incoming element but before the start tangent point of the next element; and
the point is on the outside of the horizontal alignment.
The exception to this behavior is if the distance from the point to the intersection point is greater than the distance to another element in the horizontal alignment. In that case, the station and offset for the point is to the closer element.
Where the point is on the inside of the horizontal alignment, then the station and offset is relative to the closest horizontal element.
Where the point is before the start of the horizontal alignment or beyond the end of the alignment, the station and offset for the point is null.
To change the term used for distances in the software to Chainage instead of the default Station, tap and select Settings / Language.
