To set up and connect the GNSS receiver
To set up and connect your surveying equipment when using a Trimble integrated GNSS receiver:
-
Assemble and erect the equipment.
At the rover:-
Mount the receiver onto a range pole. Power for the receiver is supplied by the internal battery in the receiver.
In a postprocessed survey you may find it useful to use a bipod to hold the range pole while taking measurements.
- Attach the controller to the holder.
- Connect the controller holder to the range pole.
At the base:- Set the antenna over the ground mark using a tripod, a tribrach, and a tribrach adaptor.
-
Use the tripod clip to hang the receiver on the tripod.
Alternatively, place the receiver in its base case. Run the antenna cable out of the portal in the side of the base case to the antenna so that the case can stay closed while the receiver is running.
- Assemble and erect the radio antenna.
-
-
If you are using an RTK radio survey, connect the controller, receiver, radio and, if required, the power supply. See To connect an external radio to the GNSS receiver.
-
Turn on the receiver.
-
Turn on the controller.
-
Connect the controller and the receiver using the appropriate cable or Bluetooth:
-
If you are using an RTK Internet or dial-in survey, connect the controller to the receiver using Bluetooth or a serial cable.
If you are using an RTK dial-in survey, make sure you connect the equipment using the method configured in the survey style. See To configure a rover dial‑in data link.
To connect the controller to the receiver using Bluetooth:
- Tap and select Settings / Connections. Select the Bluetooth tab.
- In the Connect to GNSS rover field, select the receiver.
- Pair with the device.
For more information, see Bluetooth connections.
-
- On the controller, start Trimble Access. If the Trimble Access software does not automatically connect to the receiver, see Auto‑connect settings.
If you are connecting an Android controller to an SP60 receiver, turn off the Auto-connect to GNSS receivers function in Trimble Access, and always power up the receiver and wait until it is tracking satellites before attempting to connect the software to the receiver. If you attempt to connect to an SP60 receiver from an Android controller before the SP60 is ready then the Bluetooth pairing to the receiver can be lost.
If you are using a modem in another device such as a mobile phone, turn on the device and connect it to the controller using Bluetooth or a serial cable before you connect the controller to the receiver.
