To select feature codes
Select the feature code for a point from the Code list. To view the Code list form, do one of the following:
- Tap inside the Code field in the Measure form.
- Press the right arrow key when measuring a point.
- Tap and hold on a code button in the Measure codes form.
The Code list form lists all the codes in the selected feature library. Refer to the sections below for information on selecting codes and filtering the Code list.
To quickly reuse a code from an existing point, tap inside the Code field of the Measure form or the Code field at the top of the Code list, and then tap the existing point on the map. The software populates the Code field with the code(s) of the selected point.
-
Select the code from the list or type it in the field near the top of the list.
Searching by Code automatically selects the first item found in the Code list. Tap or press Enter to add the selected code to the Code field for the current point.
Searching by Description does not automatically select any item in the Code list. Tap an item or use the arrow key to select it and then tap or press Enter to add the code to the Code field for the current point.
-
To enter multiple codes, for example to add control codes to a point to build a feature geometry, select each code in turn from the list. The software automatically enters a space to separate each code.
If you enter codes through the controller keypad, you must enter a space after each code to display the entire code list again before you enter the next code.
The maximum number of characters allowed in the Code field is 60.
- Tap Enter.
To enter a code that is not in the library, but which has a similar entry in the library, press the space key to accept the code that you enter instead of the similar code from the library. Alternatively, disable auto‑complete.
-
Tap Code to search by Code or tap Description to search by Description. Depending on your selection, the software shows items in the feature library that have codes or descriptions starting with the text you entered.
If you are searching by Code, text you enter in the code field will auto complete to match existing codes in the list. Text does not auto complete when you are searching by Description.
-
To search based on a series of characters that appear anywhere within the code or description, tap Match. All items in the FXL that contain the exact string entered are listed.
The Match function can be enabled separately for codes and for descriptions.
You must enter the exact string to find. You cannot enter an asterisk (*) as a wildcard character when using the Match function.
- To filter the entire feature code list by either code Type, for example point or control code, or by the Category as defined in the feature library, tap. The Set code list filters screen appears. Tap a feature type or a feature category to show/hide it. Tap Accept to return to the code list.
When you select a code from the list, any filtering is disabled and the entire feature code list appears, which allows you to select another code.
When editing a Code field, tap inside the Code field. The Code list appears with the existing contents of the Code field highlighted. To replace the entire contents, select a new code. To remove the highlight before you select the new code, tap at the beginning or end of the code field, or press the left or right arrow key.
To edit the Code field, use the arrow keys to navigate to the correct position and then use the backspace key to remove unwanted characters. As the code is modified, the code list filters accordingly.
By default, auto-complete is enabled. To disable auto-complete, tap the Auto off softkey.
When auto‑complete is turned off, recently used codes appear at the top of the code list. Multiple entry codes are remembered as a single entry in the recently used list. This allows you to quickly select recently used codes, especially multiple code entries.
