Installing Trimble Access
Before installing or updating the Trimble Access software:

Make sure you have the required software licenses to install the Trimble Access software. See Required software licenses. If you do not have the required licenses you may be able to try out the software for a limited time. See Installing a temporary license.

If the Trimble Installation Manager software is not installed on the controller, download it and install it. See Installing Trimble Installation Manager.
Job (.job) files created using a previous version of Trimble Access are automatically upgraded when you open them in the latest version of Trimble Access. Once jobs are upgraded they can no longer be opened in a previous version. For more information, see Using existing jobs with the latest version of Trimble Access.
To install or update Trimble Access using Trimble Installation Manager for Windows:
- Connect the controller to the Internet. See Internet connection setup.

To open Trimble Installation Manager, tap the Search icon in the Windows task bar on the controller and enter Install. Tap Trimble Installation Manager in the search results.
Trimble Installation Manager automatically connects to the Internet using the device's Internet connection, updates itself if required and then checks for available updates.
- In the product bar, select the product you want to install or update.
- Make sure the version you want to install is selected in the Version field.

In the Install updates tab, select the items to install:

Select the software apps for which you are licensed.
If the controller has a perpetual Trimble Access license, the Trimble Access apps for which the controller is licensed are already selected. If you are installing Trimble Access to use with a subscription license, you must select the Trimble Accessapps you want to install.

In the Tools group, select the GlobalFeatures.fxl check box to install the GlobalFeatures.fxl example feature library file for use with the Trimble Access software. For more information, see Feature library.

In the Language and Help Files group, select the required language pack to install.
Installing your preferred language pack enables you to use the Trimble Access software in a language other than English, and to view Trimble Access Help files on the controller in your preferred language (if available) without connecting to the Internet and browsing to the Trimble Access Help Portal. For more information, see To change language or terminology.

If you have set up custom data folders to install Trimble Access data files during software update/installation, select the folder(s) to install in the Custom data folders to upload group. See Installing existing data during upgrade.
- Tap Install.
The progress of the software download and installation is shown.
When using Trimble Installation Manager on a Windows device, your anti-virus software may show an alert. In most cases, you can continue with the installation anyway. If your anti-virus software does not allow you to continue, you must configure your anti-virus software to accept the changes made by Trimble Installation Manager. Trimble strongly recommends that you always run up-to-date anti-virus software on the device.

To close Trimble Installation Manager, tap Finish.
Devices configured with a company‑managed Google account may be subject to a Google Policy restriction on installing applications via APK. To resolve this, the account will need a policy applied that has Load From Unknown Sources enabled.
To install or update Trimble Access using Trimble Installation Manager for Android:
- Connect the controller to the Internet. See Internet connection setup.

To open Trimble Installation Manager, go to the Android Apps screen on the controller and tap the Trimble Installation Manager for Android icon.
Trimble Installation Manager automatically connects to the Internet using the device's Internet connection, updates itself if required and then checks for available updates.

- Tap Install.
The progress of the software download and installation is shown.
- During installation, any of the following pop-up messages may appear:
- If a version of the software is already installed, you are prompted to confirm you want to install an update to the existing application. Tap Install.
- If a pop‑up message indicates that the device is set to block installation of apps obtained from unknown sources:
- Tap Settings in the pop‑up message.
- In the Settings screen, locate the Unknown sources item and set the control to on to allow installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store.
- Tap OK.
- If prompted to grant access to functions on the device, tap Install to agree and install the software.
- Tap Done to return to Trimble Installation Manager. Alternatively, tap Open to close Trimble Installation Manager and open the newly installed software.

To close Trimble Installation Manager, tap Finish.
Trimble Installation Manager operates as the license manager service for any software installed using Trimble Installation Manager. If you uninstall Trimble Installation Manager, installed software will not run.
To run Trimble Access for the first time after installation or update:

On the Home screen or the Apps screen of the controller, tap or double-tap the Trimble Access software icon to run the software.

The first time you run the software, you are prompted to accept the Trimble General Product Terms. Read the terms and then tap OK.
To view these terms at any time:

In the Trimble Access software, tap and select About. Tap Legal and select EULA.

In your Internet browser, go to geospatial.trimble.com/legal/trimble-general-product-terms.

The first time you run the software, the Trimble Solution Improvement Program screen appears. The Trimble Solution Improvement Program collects information about how you use Trimble programs and about some of the problems you may encounter, and uses this information to improve products and features.

To participate in the program, select the I would like to participate in the Trimble Solution Improvement Program check box and then tap OK.

If you choose not to participate, leave the I would like to participate in the Trimble Solution Improvement Program check box unselected and then tap OK.
Participation in the program is strictly voluntary. At any time, you can choose to participate or not to participate in the Solution Improvement Program. To do this, in Trimble Access tap and select About. Tap Legal and select Solution Improvement Program. Select or clear the I would like to participate in the Trimble Solution Improvement Program check box. For more information, see Trimble Solution Improvement Program.

The Projects screen appears. You can now create or open a project.

If required, tap at the top of the Projects screen to sign in using your Trimble ID. You must sign in:

To download your Trimble Access subscription license the first time you use your Trimble Access subscription.

If you have a perpetual license, and you want to be able to synchronize Trimble Access data with the cloud.
For subsequent use, you must only sign in if you have previously signed out. For more information, see Signing in and signing out .
Trimble Access provides options to help manage your subscription. For example, if you always use the same controller you can keep your subscription locked to the controller. Alternatively, you can choose to release the subscription if you typically do not always use the same controller and want to be able to sign in on another one. For more information, see Options for releasing your subscription in Signing in and signing out .
