To configure a base radio data link
To obtain GNSS corrections at the rover using a radio data link, you can connect the Trimble Access software to a Trimble GNSS receiver that has an internal radio or to an external radio.
The internal radio in a Trimble integrated GNSS receiver can operate as a base radio if it is configured as a transceiver, and if the UHF Transmit option is on in the receiver. This avoids having to use an external radio solution at the base receiver to broadcast base data. When using Trimble GNSS receivers that do not have the UHF Transmit option, use an external radio at the base even if you use the internal radio at the rover.
To configure a Bluetooth connection to a TDL450B or ADL450B radio in the survey style, you will connect the controller directly to the radio without connecting the receiver and starting a survey.

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the controller and on the radio.
Bluetooth should be enabled for the TDL450B/ADL450B radio by default. If it is not enabled you can enable it using the menus on the front panel of the radio.

Start Trimble Access on the controller.
- Tap and select Settings / Survey styles. Select the required survey style. Tap Edit.

Select Base data link.
- Set the Type field to Radio.

In the Radio field, select TDL450B / ADL450B.

In the Receiver port field, select Bluetooth.

Select the name of the specific radio to connect to.

If the controller has connected to the radio before, select the radio in the Device name field.

If this is the first time the controller is connecting to the radio, the Device name field is empty. To connect to the radio for the first time:

Tap Search. The Bluetooth search screen shows a list of Discovered devices.

Select the device to connect to. Tap Select.
The software returns to the Base data link screen. The name of the radio you selected is shown in the Device name field.

To connect to the radio and configure settings for the radio you have selected, tap Connect.

Select the frequency Radio operating mode.

Select the radio Frequency to use.

Select the Base radio mode.

Select other settings as required, for example Network number, Enable Station ID, Station ID, Transmit power level and Repeaters supported.

Tap Accept.

Tap Store.
During a survey, the controller is connected to the GNSS receiver and it is the GNSS receiver that connects to the TDL450B/ADL450B radio over Bluetooth. To review the radio configuration settings (for example, TX frequency, power level) tap the receiver icon in the status bar and then tap Data link. Unlike other radio connections, you can edit the radio configuration settings for a TDL450B/ADL450B without first ending the survey.
To configure a cable connection to any radio that is not inside a GNSS receiver (including the TDL450B radio):

Connect the controller, receiver, radio and, if required, the power supply. See step 2 in GNSS base receiver setup.
Some TRIMTALK and Pacific Crest radios must be in command mode before they can be configured. Command mode happens momentarily at power up. Follow the prompts to connect to the radio.

Start Trimble Access on the controller.
- Tap and select Settings / Survey styles. Select the required survey style. Tap Edit.

Select Base data link.
- Set the Type field to Radio.

Set the Radio field to the radio type you are using.

If you selected an external radio, select the Port on the radio you are using for the connection.

If your radio does not appear in the Radio list, select Custom radio and then define the receiver port, baud rate, and parity.
If required, you can also enable Clear To Send (CTS) for a Custom radio.
Do not enable CTS unless the receiver is connected to a radio that supports CTS. Trimble GNSS receivers support RTS/CTS flow control when you enable CTS. For more information on CTS support, refer to the documentation supplied with your receiver.

Clear the Route through controller check box and specify the receiver port number that the radio is connected to, and the baud rate for communications.
If you will leave the controller at the base, then you may have connected the radio to the controller. In that case, select the Route through controller check box. This enables real‑time data between the receiver and the radio to pass through the controller. Specify the controller port number that the radio is connected to, and the baud rate for communications.

To connect to the radio and configure settings for the radio you have selected, tap Connect.

If the Receiver internal radio is a dual-band radio, select the frequency Band to use.

Select the radio Frequency to use.

Select the Base radio mode.

Select other settings as required, for example Network number, Enable Station ID, Station ID, Transmit power level and Repeaters supported.

Tap Accept.

Tap Store.
To review the radio configuration settings (for example, TX frequency, power level) when connected to the radio, tap the receiver icon in the status bar and then tap Data link. To edit the radio configuration settings for any radio except the TDL450B/ADL450B you must first end the survey.
