Working with tasks
There are two types of task in TerraFlex:
-
Tasks created directly in the field in TerraFlex, for Cloud and Local Projects
-
Tasks assigned from Trimble Connect (as a ToDo), for Cloud projects only
To create a task in the field in TerraFlex:
-
Open the project you want to create the task in (a Cloud Project or a Local Project).
-
On the Home screen, tap Tasks, then tap .
-
Enter a Name for the task, and tap .
-
The Home screen re-displays, showing the selected task as the "open" task. The number of forms collected shows below the task name.
If you want to close the task and collect forms outside of the task, tap the open task on the Home screen, and in the Task List, tap Just Collect, Collect forms directly within your project.
-
Tap the form template you want to collect (or tap +Collect to display the form templates and tap the form you want).
-
Compete the form as required.
If you have a laser rangefinder you can use it to capture remote features that you are unable to get to. See Capturing remote features.
If you have an external sensor, you can use it to capture data and automatically populate sensor fields. See Using external sensors.
Any existing data will be updated / overridden when the external sensor is fired. If you fire the sensor more than once, the data is overwritten with the new data until you save the form.
If you are using a Trimble R12i, R780, or R980 GNSS receiver with TIP™ technology (Trimble Inertial Platform™ technology), a TIP readiness status is displayed. See Connecting to a Trimble GNSS receiver for more information.
-
Tap to save the form, or next to tap then tap Save As Draft if you need to come back to it later.
-
Once you have finished collecting your data, you can:
-
close the task but leave it on the device in TerraFlex. To close the open task, do either of the following:
-
on the Home screen, tap next to the open task, then on the Task Details screen, tap Close.
-
from the Task List, tap next to the open task, then on the Task Details screen, tap Close.
-
-
For tasks created in a Cloud Project, complete a task when you have completed all the required forms and you are ready to send it to Map Viewer. The task is removed from TerraFlex on your device. To complete a task, do either of the following:
-
on the Home screen, tap next to the open task, then on the Task Details screen, tap Complete Task. Tap Yes to confirm.
-
from the Task List, tap next to the required task, then on the Task Details screen, tap Complete Task. Tap Yes to confirm.
-
-
For tasks created in a Local Project, when you have completed all the required forms and you have exported your data, you can delete the task. Do either of the following:
-
on the Home screen, tap next to the open task, then on the Task Details screen, tap Delete Task.
-
from the Task List, tap next to the required task, then on the Task Details screen, tap Delete Task.
-
A message warns you if you have any forms not yet exported. Tap CANCEL if you need to export any data; otherwise tap Yes to confirm.
If an existing form needs updating, it can be assigned from Trimble Connect as a ToDo; it appears in TerraFlex as a Task. When the task is open in TerraFlex, the forms that need updating appear in the Forms list. You can update the original form(s), and collect new forms if required; any additional forms you collect while a task is open will become part of the task.
To open and collect / update data within a task:
- On the Home screen, tap Tasks, then select the required task from the Task List.
- The Home screen re-displays, showing the selected task as the "open" task. A circle displays to the right of the task name, showing the completion status of the task. If no forms in the task have been updated, the circle is grey; as form updates are completed, the circle progressively changes to green.
If no task is open, this shows No task open. Collecting forms for data collection / form completion outside of a task, as described in Collecting new data and Updating an existing form.
If you have a task open, and you want to close it and collect forms outside of the task, tap the open task on the Home screen, and in the Task List, tap Just Collect, Collect forms directly within your project.
- Do one of the following:
- To update an existing form associated with the task, tap Forms, then tap to select the form you want to update. If required, you can navigate to the feature; tap Navigate to. See Using the navigation options for details. Otherwise, tap to open the form for editing.
- To collect new data, tap +Collect to display the form templates assigned to the selected project and tap the form template you want to complete, or tap the required form template on the Home screen.
- Compete the form as required.
