Adding data to the map

You can add data to the map that is not in the job by:

  • linking point files, map files, scans and surface inspections to the job and making them visible in the map.

    When you select an item, such as a point, from a linked map file and use it in Trimble Access during stakeout, to perform a Cogo calculation, or to create a point in the job, Trimble Access copies the attributes of the item from the file and stores them with the point in the job.

  • adding background maps from a variety of sources and in various formats.

    Background maps provide context for the other data in the map. Items in background maps may be selectable for review but cannot be used during stakeout, to perform a Cogo calculation, or to create a point in the job.

Linking files to the job

To link data to the job, use the Layer manager. For a list of file types you can link to the job, see Supported linked file types.

Tap in the map toolbar to open the Layer manager and select the appropriate tab. Tap the file once to link it to the job (), and tap it again to make items in the file selectable (). To add files from a different location to the project folder, tap Add.

Linked map files typically contain layers. To make only some layers visible or selectable, in the Map files tab, tap the arrow next to the file name and then tap each layer once to hide it, or twice to make it visible but not selectable. Tap the layer again to make it visible and selectable.
