Working from the map

When no items are selected in the map:

  • Tap Measure to open the Measure topo or Measure point form and select the measurement method. If you have not yet started a survey, the software prompts you to start a survey.

  • To create line, arc, and polygon features in the map as you measure points, use the CAD toolbar. See CAD toolbar.

When items are selected in the map, you can:

  • Tap Stakeout to stake out the selected items. If more than one item is selected, they are added to the Stakeout list from where you can select them for stakeout.

  • Tap Review to review details of the selected items.

  • Perform measurements and calculations using Cogo functions. See Cogo calculations.

  • Tap and hold in the map and then select from a range of available software functions related to the items you have selected. See Map tap and hold options.

Additional map functions

  • You can quickly store a point, such as a waypoint, without having to start a survey. See Storing the current receiver position.

  • To create a screen capture of the current map view, tap . If required, annotate the screen capture using the Draw tools and tap Store. To save the screen capture to the job, tap Store. If you select the Survey report file format when you export the job, all screen captures saved to the job are automatically included in the report.

  • If the job contains scan point clouds of as-built surfaces created using a Trimble SX10 or SX12 scanning total station, you can use the Cogo Surface inspection feature to create an inspection point cloud that compares the scan point cloud of the as-built surface with a reference surface. Points in the inspection point cloud are color-coded to provide immediate visual feedback between the point cloud and the reference surface. For more information, see Surface inspection.

  • If the job contains three or more 3D points, you can use those points to create a surface and store it as a triangulated terrain model (TTM) file in the current project folder. You can then use the surface to calculate a volume. See Creating a surface from existing points.

  • Draw line and arc features using feature coded points already in the job using the CAD toolbar. See CAD toolbar.

  • You can create a new line or polyline by offsetting an existing line or polyline. See Offsetting a line or polyline.
