Map
The Map screen appears when you open the job, showing the last used view for the job.
The Map provides a rich view of all data in the job, as well as data in files linked to the job and background maps.
You can complete most work from the map:
-
Software forms appear alongside the map, enabling you to interact with the map and the form at the same time.
To view more of the form, tap and swipe left. To decrease the size of a form and view more of the map, tap and swipe right.
In portrait mode, tap and swipe down to view more of the form, or tapand swipe up to view more of the map.
-
Software screens are full-width and temporarily obscure the map while you are working in them.
To view the map while a full-width software screen is open, tap to view the Favorites screen and then from the Return to list at the right of the Favorites list, tap Map.
Any points, lines, arcs, and polylines in the job are shown on the map in black, unless they have a code that defines the color of the feature in the feature library file associated with the job. See Trimble Business Center feature libraries. Any items you have selected are shown in blue.
The map also shows data from other data files, such as IFC, DXF, or RXL that you have linked to the job using the Layer manager. Items in linked files are shown in the colors defined in the file. You can use Map tools to select items in linked files and work with them. For more information on the types of files you can link to the job, see Supported map files.
You can add background information to your map to provide context for the other data in the map. Unlike linked files, items in background maps cannot be selected. For more information, see Map backgrounds.
When you start a survey, the map shows the location of the surveying equipment in use, where:
- The current orientation of a conventional instrument is shown by a dotted line extending from the instrument to the end of the screen.
- The current location of the prism is displayed as .
- The current position of the GNSS antenna is displayed as .
- If you are using IMU tilt compensation, the GNSS antenna icon indicates the heading direction, for example . You must be facing the LED panel of the receiver for the GNSS cursor to be orientated correctly.
The Map toolbar provides basic tools for viewing the data in the map at different zoom levels and from different angles.
The default Plan view shows the map in two dimensions. All other map views are three‑dimensional views.
-
Tap in the map toolbar to select a different view. To rotate data in the map, tap and then tap the map and drag to rotate the view. The icon in the center of the map indicates the point of orbit. Viewing data in 3D is useful for looking at elevation changes and detecting antenna height errors, and to view scan data and surfaces from different sides.
-
Tap or to zoom in or out one zoom level at a time. Alternatively, place two fingers on the screen and stretch out to zoom in on the center of the map or pinch in to zoom out. To view the map extents, tap .
-
To pan around the map, make sure is selected in the map toolbar and then tap and drag in the map. Alternatively, place two fingers on the screen and slide in the desired direction to move the view. If you are using a controller that has arrow keys, you can use the arrow keys to pan.
You cannot tap and drag the map to pan when the map is in Rectangle selection or Polygon selection mode, but you can still use two fingers or the controller arrow keys to pan.
To pan to a point in the map, tap in the Map toolbar and select Pan to point. Enter a point name and scale value.
To center the map at the current position, tap in the Map toolbar and select Pan to here. For more options, such as to change the scale at which to zoom, select Pan to point and configure your settings and then tap the Here softkey in the Pan to point screen.
You can also access other methods to view the data from the Map toolbar.
-
If Trimble Access is connected to an instrument that has Trimble VISION technology using a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or Cirronet radio connection, tap to switch from the map view to the video feed from the instrument. See Instrument video.
-
If Trimble Access is connected to a Trimble GNSS receiver with IMU tilt compensation and you have started a survey, tap to switch to the Augmented reality view. See Augmented reality viewer.
For more information, see Map toolbar.
Once you have mastered the basics, take the map to the next level and use the variety of map tools and features to change what you can see in the map, focus in on areas of interest, filter data from the map, and create new items. See:
