To set up Pipeline reports
You can create a variety of reports and files from data in the master tally file set using Trimble Sync Manager. Reports can also be generated using Trimble Access Pipelines on the controller, however those reports are created using data from the tally files on the controller, not the master tally file set.
Reports generate machine-readable data that can be used in other software applications, or human‑readable reports in Word or HTML format. Use the KML report formats to generate a KML file that you can drag and drop onto Google maps, to view the data against a map background.
The content of each report type is defined by an XSL stylesheet.
Reports that can be generated for a pipeline are organized into the following groups.
Pipeline tally reports provide information on tally and joint mapping details. Tally reports can be generated and viewed from the Pipeline dashboard. See Viewing data in the Pipeline dashboard.
To manage the available tally report types, select the Reporting tab in the Project properties screen.
The Pipeline tally reports section is empty until you have created a pipeline in the project. Once the pipeline is created, then by default all tally report types are added so that any report type can be generated when updates from the field are merged to the master set of tally files. You can remove any report types you don't need, and you can add your own custom reports.
To remove a report type from the pipeline, click next to the report name.
The list of pipeline tally reports set in the Pipeline properties tab are shared across all pipelines in that project.
Available tally reports
-
Checked joint list
HTML report listing the joint ID, whether the joint ID has been modified and a timestamp.
You can choose whether to sort the data by timestamp.
-
Cut out welds
HTML report listing the cut out weld ID, joint behind and joint ahead, timestamp, station, and any recorded notes.
-
Joint details CSV file
CSV file listing all the attributes in the tally file, including position information if recorded.
-
Joint details report
Similar in content to the Joint details CSV file, except it is an HTML report and does not include position information from the tally file.
You can choose to include only checked joints and to include only modified joints.
-
Joint map list
HTML report reporting joints that have been mapped.
You can choose to sort the data by sequence order or file order.
-
Joint mapping KML file
KML file with the weld mapped positions and the joint behind and ahead IDs.
KML files are typically viewed using Google Earth. Tap the weld ID to see weld attributes.
-
Joint mapping report
Similar to the Joint map list, except it includes the joint length and any notes recorded in the weld map.
You can choose to sort the data by sequence order or file order.
-
Joints KML file
KML file with a joint icon displayed at the position recorded in the tally.
KML files are typically viewed using Google Earth. Tap the icon to see joint attributes.
Job reports provide information on the as-built pipeline. Job reports can be generated and viewed from the Review job screen. See Reviewing jobs.
To manage the available job report types, select the Reporting tab in the Project properties screen.
To add a standard report for the as-built pipeline,
- Expand the Pipelines style sheets section and select the appropriate zip file.
- In the Stylesheet Download Folder dialog, navigate to the location where you want to store the zip file and click Select folder. The zip file is downloaded from the Trimble Access downloads page on trimble.com.
- In File Explorer, unzip the downloaded zip file. The zip file contains the report file (usually an XSL file) and a JPG showing an example report.
- Use File Explorer to drag the XSL file from a network location and drop it into the Reporting tab in Trimble Sync Manager, or click Add to browse to a folder and select the file.
Available job reports for the pipeline
-
Pipeline Asbuilt Joint Details CSV
CSV file listing measured points and their attributes.
-
Pipelines Asbuilt KML file
KML file including the joint and its attributes, surveyed points such as NG shots, weld measurements and their attributes.
-
Pipeline Computations Report
Contains intersection computation details as well as deflection angle computation details if these cogo routines have been used.
-
Pipelines Cover Report
An HTML report listing measured pipeline points with their station, cover, whether they meet minimum depth, ground elevation and ground point name used. You can choose whether to include only points that do not meet minimum depth.
-
Pipelines Welds Report
A word report with an image of a weld per page, along with the joint back attributes, weld attributes, and joint ahead attributes.
If required, you can generate your own custom reports by adding a custom stylesheet. You can modify a predefined format to meet your specific requirements, or use it as a template to create a completely new custom import or export format.
For example, you could create:
- A tally report that lists any tally items that were modified, or that lists the joints that were tallied or mapped on a particular day or week.
- A job report that lists any joints that were measured on the as-built pipeline, or that lists the depth of cover of points on the as-built pipeline.
To customize a standard report stylesheet
- In Trimble Sync Manager, open the Project properties screen and navigate to the location of the standard stylesheet you want to modify. If the stylesheet is for a:
- Tally report, select the Pipeline properties tab, scroll to the Pipeline tally reports section and expand the Pipelines tally style sheets section.
- Job report, select the Reporting tab and expand the Pipelines style sheets section.
- Select the zip file for the report format you want to generate.
- If required, customize the XLS file using a text editor.
- Upload the custom XLS file to the appropriate tab in the Project properties screen. Use File Explorer to drag the XSL file from a network location and drop it into the custom reports section of the Pipeline properties tab or the Reporting tab. Alternatively click Add to browse to a folder and select the file.
